A change in ownership of the former Saginaw Civic Center prompted a transformation of the facility that has changed its image. Creation of a new entrance has not only given the center a new appearance, but it has become a central hub for entering the three venues in TheDow Event Center. The new atrium provides adequate space for those attending events in Wendler Arena, the Heritage Theater and the Banquet/Conference Center and also serves as an excellent gathering space.
Exterior renovations including reroofing and entrances were reviewed and addressed by the team. Systems throughout the complex were upgraded while interior spaces in all venues were renovated and refurbished.
Wendler Arena hosts a number of entertainment events from concerts to sports prompting numerous upgrades to mechanical, electrical and ice systems. Seating was restored and improved and new scoreboards and signage were installed. New concessions stands were developed in the south concourse. With a key focus on the area’s hockey team, an addition was completed to house a training facility and locker room for the team. The 69,206 square foot arena can seat 7,600 people.
The Heritage Theatre with its 45,588 square feet of space and seating for 2,276 was upgraded. Work included new finishes, refurbishing of seating and refinishing of the stage, new flooring and lighting.
Unity Hall is comprised of 33,983 square feet and is an excellent space for large gatherings with banquet space for 500. The entire banquet facility was renovated with new finishes. The full kitchen used to support this area also received upgrades.
