Bay County Health Department Office Renovation

In 2024, WTA Architects contracted with Serenus Johnson Construction for architectural design services for the Bay County Health Department’s new 45,000 square foot building located in Bay City, Michigan. The Health Department will occupy approximately 25,000 square feet of the existing building, with the remaining space reserved for a tenant.

This renovation project will serve as the new location for the Bay County Health Department and all of its services. WTA Architects’ involvement began with a comprehensive study to evaluate the existing building, a former furniture store, and assess its feasibility to meet the Health Department’s needs. The project then progressed through schematic design and design development, culminating in the completion of construction documents for final bidding. WTA Architects will continue to oversee the project through the construction phase until completion.

The public and the public’s needs helped guide this project. Working closely with the Health Department and its staff, ease of public access to this location, and to the departments within it, was always the top priority.

The project is currently under construction and is anticipated to be completed in May 2026.
