Flint Gas City

Flint Gas City is an innovative training concept and facility developed through a partnership between Consumers Energy and the Utility Workers Union. This site immerses trainees in realistic environments and scenarios that natural gas workers and emergency first responders encounter daily. Designed to replicate a neighborhood-like setting, it enables controlled simulations of gas leaks and other natural gas issues using a newly developed on-site gas control manifold system integrated with a digital building management system.

The facility includes a main training building, nine small residential-style training structures, and a utility building that houses the majority of the site’s essential systems.
