Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy (SASA)

Saginaw, MI, USA

Project Description

In November 2020, Saginaw Public School District taxpayers passed the largest bond in Saginaw history at the time. The $100 million package provided much needed capital for improvements to the district’s buildings, with a focus on educational innovation. District buildings include:

• New Handley Elementary School

• Renovate existing Saginaw High School into Middle School

• New Saginaw United High School

• Renovate existing Arthur Hill High School into Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy (SASA)

WTA worked with the district and staff to relocate the existing SASA program into an 80+ year old high school. Turning the 1940s era building into a 21st century learning environment for gifted/talented students, our team reenvisioned spaces throughout the school including, learning studios, science labs, STEAM labs, and performing and fine arts spaces.

Additionally, a myriad of other elements were upgraded, not limited to:

• HVAC

• Electrical/Lighting

• Pool

• Toilet and Locker Rooms

• Window Replacement

• Theater
