Project Description
Torzewski Water Park, located in Lapeer County, consisted of 30 year old equipment and outdated infrastructure that both limited the publics’ ability to enjoy the amenities, and had become an ongoing maintenance issue.
In 2023 WTA Architects was retained to provide major renovations and new construction across the 1.5 acres of water park. These renovations include a new 39 foot tall tower with two spiraling water slides, including a 60 foot runout; new concrete and site work across the site, including various new pavilions and site-integrated seating; and providing new fencing and gates at the perimeter of the water park.
The renovation also consisted of a complete overhaul to the zero-entry pool, and a new splash pad with modern play equipment. Included in the renovations to the site was a priority to provide accessibility and to meet ADA guidelines across the site. This priority materialized in providing accessible ramps for access across various levels, providing a zero-entry pool, and providing an ADA compliant pool lift. The project is estimated to be finished in 2025 and open to the public in 2026.
